SuperGiant

Supergiant is a funk-inspired group hailing from Manchester and Liverpool, drawing influence from the diverse sounds of the 60s and 70s. Their music reflects a blend of styles ranging from The Meters to The Beastie Boys, from Can to Booker T, resulting in a unique concoction with a funky edge, soulful undertones, and mind-blowing riffs.

Their singles, ‘Monkey Hormones’ and ‘Wont Ya Call Me (Lawdy Lawdy),’ have received exclusive airplay on BBC 6 Music’s Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show. Additionally, their independent release ‘Hairless Mexican’ has garnered national attention with airplay by Craig Charles and the BBC 6 Music team.

The band’s origins trace back to a Liverpool bedsit where they bonded over vinyl records, classic instruments, kitsch films, and retro furniture. Despite years apart, they reunited after a memorable afternoon in Manchester, regaining momentum and growing stronger ever since.

Comprising drums, bass, guitar, vocals, keyboards, and percussion, Supergiant recently welcomed female vocalist Leanne Ledger from the Manchester funk band The Plimpsouls and a three-piece brass section to infuse even more soul into their sound.

Their live performances have graced stages at renowned festivals such as Kendal Calling, Beat-Herder Festival, and DevaFest. They’ve supported acts like Smoove and Turrell at The Blues Kitchen in Manchester and Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, Craig Charles at Band on the Wall during The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, and Vintage Trouble at Manchester Academy. Additionally, they’ve shared the stage with Tom Maguire & The Brassholes and supported Crowd Company at The Forge in Camden.
